ACCOUNTING workshop “Bengkel Kecemerlangan Prinsip Perakaunan” received an RM80,000 sponsorship from Taylor’s College.
The workshop is to prepare students for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and encourage more youths to pursue the profession as a career.
The three-day accounting workshop was organised by Education Ministry’s Principles of Accounting Panel of Fully Residential School Management Division, and supported by Malaysia Institution of Accountants (MIA).
It was attended by 375 students from 11 boarding schools in Malaysia.
Participants received hands-on training from three accounting Guru Cemerlang, giving them the knowledge and skills to master the subject at SPM level and a solid foundation to succeed in the competitive world of accounting and finance in the future.
Taylor’s invited CIMB Group chairman Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad and KFC and Pizza Hut Malaysia group chief financial officer Izzad Shamsudin to share valuable insights on the industry and inspire students with their stories.
The workshop also created networking opportunities with the accounting community, as speakers from MIA were invited to be a part of this initiative.
“We believe in the power of education to shape the future,” said Taylor’s College School of Professional Studies head Jason Lo.
“With MIA, we are investing in the future of our youths and the future of accounting in Malaysia.
“We are confident that this is a valuable experience for all participants, and we look forward to seeing the impact of this workshop on students’ careers in developing the nation’s economic growth,” he added.
Apart from the workshop, Taylor’s also provided accounting kits for 84 students from Putrajaya for the 2022 SPM Accounting paper.
The accounting kit included essentials such as an accounting calculator, a bag and stationery.
“At Taylor’s, we are also committed to providing education to all students and are proud to be making a positive impact in the community.
“We believe in empowering students with a well-rounded education and equipping them with skills, knowledge and necessary tools to achieve their goals and be the leaders of tomorrow,” said Lo.
To help nurture the students’ interest in accounting, the college will be supporting students from the 11 schools to pursue accountancy on a 100% scholarship at its School of Professional Studies.
There are various accounting pathways that students can choose from at Taylor’s, such as ACCA Foundation in Accountancy, MICPA Programme, Foundation in Accounting, Diploma in Accounting and Bachelor programmes.
