Breaking poverty cycle through education

Three Chinese primary schools were given a total of RM30,000 to help underprivileged pupils. SJK (C) Man Ming, SJK (C) New Kopisan and SJK (C) Lawan Kuda each received RM10,000 through the ‘Spread the Love’ Foundation.

Its founder Dr Lee Ming Tai said that through the initiative, 20 pupils from each school will get RM500 a year to ease their parents’ burden.

He said poverty could only be alleviated through education. He added that the funds came from Berjaya Corporation Bhd chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan.

SJK (C) Man Ming headmaster Loh Chee Kee hoped the recipients would live up to the expectations placed on them.
