SELANGOR government plans to look into the feasibility of expanding its Smart Rental Scheme to low-cost housing.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pic) said the scheme has been well-received.
“A total of 1,000 units have been allocated under the programme, of which 800 have been taken up.
“Those who took up the scheme are happy as they get 30% of their rental payment returned at the end of their contract of between two and five years,” he said, adding that the state would discuss the matter with the Local Government Development Ministry.
Smart Rental Scheme provides middle-income families the option of renting a housing unit for a period of between two and five years, after which 30% of the rental paid will be returned to help fund the deposit for a new house.
Amirudin also said the programme has a good track record of rental collection and maintenance of facilities.
Rental collection during the Covid-19 pandemic was about 95%.
“The maintenance fee is included in the rental payment, which enables the management to maintain the facilities optimally,” he said at Jelajah Kita Selangor Penyayang programme which was held in Taman Melawati, Gombak.
At the event, Amirudin presented several offer letters to those that had applied for Rumah Selangorku, namely Pangsapuri Seri Alam under the Smart Rental Scheme and Pangsapuri Aman Siara.
