Councillor slots at MBSJ, MBSA filled for 2023 term

SUBANG Jaya City Council’s (MBSJ) councillor line-up for 2023 is now complete, with the swearing-in of Parithi Vaanan Ramasamy from PKR.

He took his oath and signed the letter of undertaking in front of Subang Jaya acting mayor Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali and was then assigned to Zone 17 Residents Representative Council.

In a statement, MBSJ’s Corporate and Strategic Management Department said the city council now had the full line-up of 24 councillors.

“We hope Parithi Vaanan will be able to fulfil his responsibilities and help MBSJ in drafting policies, contribute ideas and work towards improving the quality of the council’s delivery service,” the statement read.

MBSJ has a total of nine newly appointed councillors who will serve the 2023 term.

Kamarul Hafiz Kamarudin is the new councillor from DAP while Khairol Basri M. Arif and Wan Shukri Wan Mustafa are from Amanah.

Besides Parithi Vaanan, the other new faces from PKR are Sarawati Mukhtar, Pravin Murali, Tah Yap Keong, Ahmad Danish Hairudin and Tanujah Debulsingh.

Also completing its line-up of councillors for 2023 is Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) with the appointment of Muhammad Nabil Norhalim.

The 34-year-old from Amanah took his oath and signed his letter of undertaking in front of Shah Alam mayor Dr Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid at the latter’s office in Wisma MBSA in Shah Alam.

MBSA Corporate and Public Relations Division said in a statement that his appointment meant that all 24 slots for MBSA councillors were complete.

“The council has high hopes that the appointment of Muhammad Nabil, who has a varied experience, education and background, can help empower the delivery system.

“We hope he will be able to carry out his responsibility well and help in providing insight and ideas,” the statement read.

Other new faces are Nur Yusmi Md Yusop, Tengku Ahmad Tengku Kasim, Murugiah Munusamy, Hamdan Harun and Suryamuizzudin Kamarudin from PKR, while Ramu Nadarajan is from DAP.
