Some 2,700 Putrajaya houses to get assessment tax discounts

ABOUT 2,700 house owners in Putrajaya will enjoy discounts on assessment tax from the second term onwards.

In a statement, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this was the second phase of assessment tax discount that would benefit all strata and terrace house owners, for projects completed after 2017.

"I have agreed that strata house owners would get a five percent discount, while the terrace owners would get 20% discount, from their bill on July 1 until the next valuation by Putrajaya Corporation," he said.

The first phase of the assessment tax discount was a 30% cut from the bill, extended to house owners of units sold for not more than RM300,000 and completed after 2017 in the administrative capital, beginning this year.

Anwar said he took note of the complaints from the property owners, other than the affordable house owners in Putrajaya that the assessment tax charges on residential premises in the city was relatively high compared to the surrounding areas.

He also said that the reduction was also in line with the Malaysia Madani aspirations to reduce the burden faced by people in the M40 group in coping with the cost of living.
