CYCLING enthusiasts will soon be able to ride around Permai Lake Garden as a 3km cycling track is being added to the park in Sibu, Sarawak.

Package 1 of the Permai Lake Garden upgrade is part of Sibu Municipal Council’s (SMC) project to improve facilities there.

SMC chairman Clarence Ting said the project was expected to be completed in October.

It was handed over by SMC building control and town beautification standing committee chairman and councillor Raymond Tiong to a representative of the contractor at a ceremony.

“This package costing RM3.38mil will also see the upgrading of walking tracks,” Ting said and advised park users to follow safety instructions during the construction stage.

Package 1 is part of Permai Lake Garden’s upgrading project involving a total cost of RM8mil.

Work on the 20-year-old lake garden will take three years to complete.

Under the project, some parts of the lake garden will be made into a science park.

More parking bays will also be created.
