State to go through feedback for Batu Arang special area plan

THE Selangor government has completed the Batu Arang Special Area Plan (RKK) Draft 2030 public hearing process.

State local government, public transportation and new village development committee chairman Ng Sze Han said stakeholders’ suggestions and applications would be processed accordingly.

He said feedback was received from seven affected Batu Arang residents.

“Five landowners asked for rezoning of their land from agricultural to industrial,” he said when met at the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) headquarters.

“We also received suggestions from the committee members of Masjid Jamek Batu Arang who are concerned about preserving Batu Arang’s heritage, as the mosque has been there for almost 50 years,” he said.

Ng added that the RKK committee would bring up the suggestions, which were in line with MPS’ plan to preserve heritage areas in Batu Arang, to the state planning committee and executive council.

In October last year, Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari launched the publicity and public participation programme of the Batu Arang RKK Draft 2030.

The RKK was drawn up based on the Town and Country Planning Act 1976 and the National Heritage Act 2005.

Ng had said the RKK was part of a conservation management plan to protect heritage areas for site development control and future planning.

The plan can also be used as a reference for Batu Arang residents in managing and safeguarding heritage and historical sites, he added.
