SERI KEMBANGAN: Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has kicked off its three-day integrated operation to ensure businesses in areas under its jurisdiction follow regulations.
Some 56 personnel from six MBSJ departments – enforcement, licensing, environmental, health, engineering and building department – took part in today's operation at the commercial zone of Taman Puncak Jalil.
MBSJ Enforcement Department assistant director Muhd Iskandar Zack Azmi said the operation also covered Jalan PUJ 1 to PUJ 3.
"In today's (March 14) operation which started at 10am, MBSJ is identifying the business premises without licence, those that are obstructing public walkways and illegal additional structural construction.
"At the same time, the council's enforcement officers are monitoring restaurants and food traders to ensure that they are abiding by the rules and regulations," he said.
In Tuesday's operation, several businesses were issued compounds for various offences, including not following the limit on the number of stalls permitted in restaurants, as well as poor maintenance.
Muhd Iskandar reminded that all compounds carried a maximum fine of RM1,000 for contravening various city council by-laws.
Several cars that were illegally parked in the area were also towed away.
Shop owner Gan Huat Lim, 43, who received a warning for having cracks on the walls and floors of his shop in Jalan PUJ 3/3, commended the council for carrying out the operation and said it was a good reminder to the business owners in the commercial area to maintain their premises in tip-top shape.
"This is extremely important, rather than letting their businesses run without proper care. This is up to the shop owners to maintain their premises or risk getting a compound notice," he said.
MBSJ said the integrated operation will also be carried out on Wednesday and Thursday (March 15 and 16) at an undisclosed location.
