Alor Gajah authority assisting Pengkalan Balak beachfront chalet operators

MELAKA: Alor Gajah Municipal Council (MPAG) is in the midst of assisting chalet operators along the Pengkalan Balak beachfront to legalise their businesses, said the council’s president Saifuddin Abdul Karim (pic).

He said 59 of 141 chalet operators in the area have obtained the temporary building permit while the remaining properties are under the process of being legalised.

“We will give a grace period of one year to have them licensed with the help of the constituency assemblyman, district Land and Mines office and the association representing the operators,” he said after hosting a dinner with local media at a leading hotel here on Tuesday (March 14).

Saifuddin said the chalet operators will be asked to conform to the law by having the necessary permissions to host guests.

Separately, he said MPAG has approved 13 locations as markets and three bazaars for the upcoming Ramadan month.

Saifuddin said the market sites are Taman Bandar Satelit Pulau Sebang; Pulau Sebang Town; Taman Sri Sutera, Pengkalan, Alor Gajah Town, Jelatang; Taman Rembia Perkasa; Kampung Parit Melana, Masjid Tanah Industrial Park (Londang); Kuala Sg Baru, Masjid Tanah; Taman Seri Gamelan; Lubok China and Taman Bandar Baru Simpang Empat.

The Ramadan bazaars are at Taman Bandar Satelit Pulau Sebang; Masjid Tanah Sentral and Taman Bandar Baru Masjid Tanah.

“We have an additional seven Ramadan markets compared to six markets in 2022,”he added.
