A directory featuring 150 industrial tourism products from the nine districts in Selangor is now available in the form of an ebook.

Selangor tourism, environment, green technology and Orang Asli affairs committee chairman Hee Loy Sian said the directory was important in helping to promote the state’s industrial tourism products to attract local and international visitors.

“Titled Splendid Selangor: Industrial Tourism, the ebook features tourism products in 10 categories.

“There are small and medium enterprises (SMEs), agricultural, manufacturing, creative industry, education, galleries and museums, street art, spa as well as the food and beverage industry.

“The ebook, which can be downloaded from selangor.travel/e-brochures gives information on the various places of interest for industrial tourism in Selangor,” he said during the state assembly at Bangunan SUK, Shah Alam.

He was replying to a question from Wong Siew Ki (PH-Balakong) on plans to promote industrial tourism.

A Selangor Industry Fun Map listing attractions at Selangor’s districts is found in the 27-page ebook.

The ebook also has photos and contact details of recommended places and travel packages.

Hee said the state had engaged with various parties regarding tourism product development.

“We have worked with product manufacturers, residents associations and local authorities to execute industrial tourism campaigns and initiatives.

“Besides Tourism Selangor’s digital marketing on its website and 14 official social media accounts, the state has organised familiarisation trips with the media and domestic and international tourism agencies to promote our products,” he said.

In a supplementary question from Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof (PH-Dusun Tua) on efforts to update new attractions on Tourism Selangor’s website, Hee said the website was constantly being updated.

“The state is in the midst of transforming the tourist centre in Sungai Congkak, Hulu Langat, under Dusun Tua constituency.

“We are working with a private company which is keen to invest RM30mil to build a hotel in the forest.

“This is one of the projects that can attract tourists to Selangor, especially to Sungai Congkak.

“We want to introduce the forest stay, closer-to-nature concept that not only involves the forest but a river as well,” he said.

He added that the Skypark airport near the Seri Setia constituency was an example of a destination capable of attracting tourists.

Meanwhile, Halimey Abu Bakar (PH-Seri Setia) in a supplementary question, asked about efforts to promote interesting eateries in constituencies without strong tourism products.

Hee said ongoing efforts were being taken to promote interesting food, especially in villages throughout Selangor.
