One hundred and twenty-seven employees were honoured at Klang Municipal Council’s (MPK) Excellent Service Award 2022.
The annual affair held at Dewan Hamzah in Klang, Selangor, recognised those who demonstrated strong work ethic as well as exceptional job performance and integrity.
Selangor finance officer Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, who launched the event, praised the recipients and said that it set the tone for the municipality that aspires to be a city.
“Organisational awareness and being service-oriented is the key to meeting the people’s need.
“Our employees at the local councils must have a serve-first mindset, which is important to transform and go forward for a better environment,” he added.
Additionally, 25 employees who retired last year were also recognised.
“I believe the awards given will spur employees to be more productive. Employees’ efforts need to be appreciated to create role models and produce good mentors,” said Dr Ahmad Fadzli.
MPK president Noriani Roslan urged employees to be efficient and proactive to meet the growing expectations of residents.
“A quality work culture can be established if workers practise a comprehensive ethical work culture with integrity,” she said.
MPK’s Licensing Department director Datin Fadzilah Abdul Aziz, 59, who started her career with the municipality in 1988 at the Legal and Enforcement Department, said it felt wonderful to be honoured with the Excellent Service Award.
“Over the years, I ensured strong engagement with employees that had brought good team performance.
“I will leave MPK knowing that I have created a collaborative work environment that shares knowledge and ideas,” said Fadzilah, who has been with the Licensing Department since September 2020.
MPK’s Human Resource Department deputy director Mohd Rafeq Said, 35, who holds a degree in Administrative Science and Policy Studies from Universiti Teknologi Mara, said it was a humbling experience to be chosen for the Excellent Service Award.
“It is the second time I am recognised for my work.
“I will continue to keep up my performance and guide others in the department to achieve their goals,” he added.
Another recipient from MPK’s Environmental Services Department, Woo Lee Tay, 59, said he was proud to receive the award as it reflected teamwork at the council.
“It feels amazing to get this award especially now, as I am going to retire in a few months,” added the father of three who has been in government service since 1984.
