SEPANG Municipal Council (MPSepang) will increase enforcement on unlicensed food premises including hawker stalls.
Its president Datuk Abdul Hamid Hussain said this move was necessary after four eateries were shut down in January and February for hygiene violations.
“Cleanliness of the premises is important.“In Kota Warisan for example, we found that there were a number food premises in commercial buildings and also hawker stalls operating without licence.
“To get a licence, the operator has to show proof of their tenancy agreement and typhoid jab certificate among others. Some cannot fulfil these conditions,” he said after chairing the full board meeting yesterday.
He said MPSepang would issue compounds to those found operating without a licence.
A total of 144 eateries were checked in January this year and 105 in February during enforcement operations.
Eighty-six premises were graded “A” in January and 53 in February.
Fifty-one eateries received the “B” grading in January and 42 in February.
