THE Damansara-Shah Alam Expressway (DASH) and the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) are the latest additions to the Klang Valley network of highways.
DASH was built at a cost of RM4.2bil. Construction began in August 2016 and was completed in September 2022.
Linking the western and eastern parts of the Klang Valley, specifically Puncak Perdana in Shah Alam to Penchala in Petaling Jaya, DASH spans 20.1km and has 13 interchanges.
Its “Spaghetti Link” is a network of seven ramps connecting DASH with existing highways, namely the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) and the Penchala Link at the Penchala Interchange.
Elsewhere, the 24.4km SUKE, which runs from Sri Petaling to Ulu Kelang, was built at a cost of RM5.7bil.
Its route is 90% elevated.
SUKE features Malaysia’s first helicoidal (spiralled) ramp.
The Cheras-Kajang Expressway (Grand Saga) connects to SUKE through two spiral loops.
It also has the country’s highest elevated segmented box girder bridge at 56.4m.
Once completed, SUKE will have 14 interchanges.
