FACTORY owners at Jalan KB2/15, Kampung Baru Balakong in Seri Kembangan are urged to contribute to road paving works in the industrial area.

Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) Zone 6 councillor Billy Sun said, “The upkeep of Jalan KB2/15 falls under the Kampung Baru Balakong Industrial Area Association.”

However, he said that the association could not take immediate action to fix the roads since some factories in the area had not contributed funds for this purpose.

“For over a year now, motorists have had to deal with poor road conditions including many potholes.”

He said that the association had patched up the potholes in response to complaints received from MPKj councillors, assemblymen and the public.

Association chairman Datuk Pang Yoon Shin said despite receiving numerous complaints, some of the factories had not contributed to help repair the roads.

Pang said that most of the factories in the area had yet to receive their Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC).

This has resulted in the association collecting a reduced amount of service charge.

“The association bought 120 tonnes of tar to pave the roads and cover the potholes.

“It has managed to cover nearly 1,000 sq m,” said Sun adding that the association had spent almost RM40,000 to tar the road.

Sun said that the industrial area has yet to be handed over to MPKj.

As such it was unfair to blame the council for not maintaining the roads.
