Listen to people’s views, DBKL told

THE postponement of the gazetting of the Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan (KLSP) 2040 will allow Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to listen and respond to people’s views.

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said it was important for Kuala Lumpur’s policy planning to consider the voices of various parties.

“We want to ensure sustainable development and that no community feels it has been ignored.

“I think previously the people of Kuala Lumpur felt that they were not involved in the discussion process of the city’s development.

“I also think it is fair for DBKL to respond to residents’ associations and non-governmental organisations which told me they had provided their views but received no feedback.”

He was speaking to reporters after taking part in the making of bubur lambuk organised by Yayasan TM at the Kampung Kerinchi People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Kuala Lumpur.

Fahmi, who is Lembah Pantai MP, said the engagement process involving all Kuala Lumpur MPs was underway, adding that one of the items on his wish list was to prevent some residential areas from being turned into commercial areas.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced the postponement of the gazetting of KLSP 2040 until May 31 to allow DBKL to hold further engagement sessions with stakeholders.

On the issue of faulty lifts in private housing schemes not under DBKL’s jurisdiction, Fahmi said he would discuss with DBKL and the Local Government Development Ministry ways to help resolve the problem. — Bernama
