MALAYSIA achieved a new milestone in home automation and smart building certification when the Manpower Department Training Institution (ILJTM) awarded the KNX Professional Certification to 75 instructors.
The event jointly organised by the Manpower Department (JTM), Skills Development Fund Corporation and Seikou Systec Sdn Bhd was held at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTC KL).
JTM and Seikou Systec set new records at the ceremony and received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records for “Most KNX Certified Tutors in an Agency” and “Most KNX Certified Tutors Trained for an Agency” respectively, said JTM in a statement.
ILJTM instructors received two certifications – the KNX Certified Course for Trainer and the Malaysian Skills Certificate for the Electrical Building Automation System Installation – from the Skills Development Department, demonstrating their expertise in the field of electrical building automation system installation.
The demand for KNX, an Open Systems Interconnection-based communication standard and protocol for home automation and smart buildings, is on the rise in Malaysia, said JTM.
It said that by implementing the KNX Modular and Professional Certification programme, ILJTM was now able to offer skill improvement courses and meet the high industry demand for this programme.
The programme was implemented under the Jana Wibawa scheme and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) 1.0 Powerful Skills Training Fund Scheme funded by PTPK and implemented by Seikou Systec.
Seikou Systec provided KNX equipment to six ILJTM campuses appointed as KNX authorised training centres.
The six campuses were Advanced Technology Training Centre in Kemaman, Terengganu; Industrial Training Institute (ILP) Kepala Batas, Penang; ILP Pasir Gudang, Johor; ILP Bukit Katil, Melaka; ILP Miri, Sarawak and ILP Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
These campuses have been commissioned as Skills Development Department modular accredited centres and registered as public training centres under Skills Development Fund Corporation.
Present at the ceremony was Deputy Human Resources Minister Mustapha Sakmud, who represented the Minister V. Sivakumar.
