A LARGE crowd gathered to break fast together at an iftar event at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam.

It was organised by Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), which provided 1,000 food packs for visitors to break fast with.

The city council also contributed RM50 to each of the 100 underprivileged children from Rumah Amal Kasih Bestari in Kampung Melayu Subang in Section U6.

“This contribution is an initiative by MBSA to reach out to communities in need, in line with MBSA as a caring local authority,” said the city council’s Corporate and Public Relations Division head Shahrin Ahmad.

“It is also in line with our efforts to meet the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), namely SDG 3 on good health and well-being, SDG 11 on sustainable cities and communities as well as SDG 16 on peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.

“The Shah Alam City iftar programme is also a platform for MBSA to share about the meaning of Ramadan,” he added.

The event included a forum, Quran recitation and congregational prayers.
