RESIDENTS in Kampung Melayu Kundang Ulu in Tangkak, which was among the areas in Johor hit hard by the March floods, received a visit from the Takaful-4-All Squad under the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA).

MTA chief executive officer Mohd Radzuan Mohamed said the visit was part of the association’s series of activities to engage and foster closer relationships as well as share knowledge on takaful insurance with the community.

“We presented a cheque of RM76,000 to aid in the repair and restoration of Masjid An-Nur Jamek in Pekan Kundang Ulu that was damaged during the floods.

“The donation is from MTA and several takaful operators, namely AIA Public Takaful Bhd, Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd, Takaful Ikhlas Bhd and Zurich Takaful Malaysia Bhd,” he said in a statement.

Radzuan said a total of 700 families living in Mukim Kundang Ulu were affected by the floods.

“We have also mobilised the takaful industry collectively under the Takaful-4-All campaign last month to extend help to victims of floods that hit several parts of the country, including Johor.

“Some of the assistance provided included simplifying and expediting claims and sharing hotline information with all takaful companies,” he said.

“We have also set up the Takaful-4-All squad to be on standby to provide assistance to flood victims in clean-up efforts and deliver aid when needed.

“This series of visits and aid is a continuation of the takaful industry’s commitment to extend help to the communities affected by the recent floods,” he added.

Radzuan said the Takaful-4-All campaign also aimed to increase awareness of takaful insurance through a series of activities.

“This includes roadshows, contests and engagements as well as media campaigns across mainstream, digital and social media,” he said.

“This programme is also part of the takaful industry’s CSR activity in caring for unfortunate members of the community,” he added.

Meanwhile, Masjid An-Nur Jamek committee chairman Ehsan Ahmad said the community was grateful to MTA and the takaful industry for their assistance that would benefit the mosque and local residents.

“We hope that this kind of programme will continue and that more organisations will come forward to give this kind of aid to other communities in need.

“The Takaful-4-All squad also lent a hand to clean up and repaint the mosque as well as prepare iftar (breaking of fast) dishes and bubur lambuk with the local community,” said Ehsan.
