SELANGOR Maritime Gateway (SMG) master developer Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd (LLSB) has won gold for Sustainability in Government at the prestigious Green World Awards 2023.

The state-owned entity, which is implementing key activities for the Rejuvenation of Klang River, received recognition for its efforts to conserve the river in a bid to generate new economic opportunities and improve the quality of life for the community.

In a social media post, LLSB said it competed with over 500 nominees around the world.

Mentri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) chief executive officer Norita Mohd Sidek said that LLSB would not have made it this far without the continued support of the Selangor government, municipalities, state agencies, consultants, NGOs and corporations.

“This international stamp also welcomes LLSB into the Green World Ambassadors movement along with our winning paper that will be published in the Green Book - an international work of reference on best environmental practice for others to model and learn from,” LLSB said in the post.

This is the second international award won by LLSB for the SMG project.

The company previously secured a silver for the Best Government Sustainability Initiative at the Gulf Sustainability Awards 2022.

Another Malaysian entity, the Melaka Historic City Council, (MHCC) received the global silver winner in the same category, while also picking up the global gold award in the Environmental Policy category.

Norita, who is also a member of LLSB’s board of directors, received the trophy and certificate from The Green Organisation founder and chief executive officer Roger Wolens at the awards ceremony in Miami on Monday (April 24).
