HIGH quality and competitive tour products will help the tourism industry move forward with a solid footing.

This is what the Golden Destinations Travel Fair strives to offer customers as the tourism industry rebounds from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Golden Destination held its first standalone travel fair this year at Sunway Pyramid in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, partnering with 24 top performing partners to offer the best travel deals available on the market.

Ice Holidays Sdn Bhd managing director Mita Lim Swee Kok said the Golden Destinations brand surpassed previous sales records during last month’s MATTA Fair.

“This time, we have managed to negotiate better prices for our partners which will be passed on to the customers,” he said during the opening ceremony of the travel fair, which was held from April 28 to 30.

Lim said that they were aiming to sell 2,500 packages including tours, cruises and flights at the fair.

He added that the reopening of China to international tourism was a significant event for the industry and it would remain a highly popular destination, especially with recent announcements of visa-free policies for certain travel groups which meant more convenience.

“There are a wide range of packages designed to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of travellers.

“They range from budget- friendly options to luxurious experiences,” he added.

In addition to offering tour packages, the fair also provided first-hand and up-to-date travel information on site.

The Golden Destinations Travel Fair offered added excitement for visitors with its “Travel and Win 5.0” contest.

Participants stood a chance to win a Mercedes A-Class or a Perodua Myvi as well as travel packages worth RM500,000.

The contest was aimed at encouraging more customers to sign up for tour packages and at the same time, rewarding loyal customers for their continued support.

Additional lucky draws and deals were also included for purchasers, with free Covid-19 travel insurance and a US$500 (RM2,231.50) refund for lost baggage.

Lim said there would be at least three Golden Destinations travel fairs this year, with Melaka as the next venue in the coming weeks and Penang later on.

“The trick to getting the best prices is to always book early as there are a limited number of packages available at a low price. Once they run out, the prices will start at a slightly higher tier,” he added.
