Three EV charging bays for hotel guests’ convenience

Guests of Four Points by Sheraton Desaru can charge their electric vehicles at one of three parking bays equipped with charging facilities.

THE high frequency of guests enquiring about electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities prompted a hotel in Desaru, Johor, to set up its own EV charging station.

Four Points by Sheraton Desaru general manager Maverick Loh said three parking bays had been allocated for the hotel’s EV charging facility.

“They are equipped with alternating current, with plugs that supply up to 22 kilowatts of input and output power for 24 hours daily.

“Travellers with EV can now enjoy the convenience of leaving their vehicles to charge without having to worry about looking for such stations during their holiday,” he said.

Loh said the implementation marked a milestone in the hotel’s commitment to sustainability.

He said the charging stations made the hotel the first Mariott property in the southern region to enable such services.

“Since opening our doors in 2021, many guests have been asking about EV charging facilities and we responded accordingly,” he said, adding that the hotel aims to be a destination EV charging point.

Loh said the EV charging stations were also in line with the hotel’s goals in sustaining responsible operations to reduce environmental footprint and prepare to receive travellers who own electric vehicles.
