Fewer stops for second version of PJ transport service

One of the stops for the Kumpool 2.0 service is the Taman Jaya LRT station.

PETALING Jaya residents can now explore new stops and zones with the launch of the Kumpool 2.0 transport service in the Bukit Gasing constituency.

Assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran said Kumpool has enhanced its service.

“We have been discussing with Kumpool for the last two months to optimise the service after operating for a year in Petaling Jaya.

“Kumpool 2.0 will be faster than the previous,” he said, adding the objective of Kumpool 2.0 was to minimise wait time.

He said the updated service has reduced the number of stops in Petaling Jaya from 100 to just 21 to better cater to commuters and minimise wait time.

“We narrowed down the target zone for office commuters with Kumpool 2.0 now focusing on a smaller area in Bukit Gasing.

“The selected zones include sections 13, 14, and 19 where the majority of commercial areas are located,” added Rajiv.

The 21 stops include Taman Jaya LRT station, Digital Mall and Jaya One mall.

Kumpool 2.0 vans are strategically stationed near train and bus stations, with the list of stops clearly displayed on banners at each location.

Rajiv said Kumpool was similar to ehailing with commuters required to order the service in advance to reach their intended destinations.

“The service costs only RM1 per ride and can be ordered via the Kumpool app,” he said.

He added that the optimised service was especially for those who rely on transportation to travel to areas not covered by buses.

“We are planning to add more vans in the future,” said Kumpool senior growth manager Kenny Hew.

He added that the main focus was to provide an efficient and convenient transportation option for those working in commercial areas of Petaling Jaya.

Rajiv urged city folk to opt for LRT and Kumpool vans for their daily commutes in an effort to reduce traffic congestion.
