MISS Chinese World 2023 returns to Malaysia for its first physical final since 2017.

Miss Chinese World president Tan Sri Danny Ooi said 40% of the Chinese delegates who applied for visas to attend the upcoming grand final were not granted permission to leave their country.

“However, we still have 17 finalists for the Miss Chinese World 2023 grand final, which will be held today at Berjaya Times Square Hotel Grand Ballroom,” he said.

He added that the date “520” was significant in Chinese as it sounds similar to “I love you”, and he hoped the participants develop a love for Malaysia during their time here.

The 17 finalists are Chinese delegates from four countries – Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.

“Miss Chinese World pageant is a celebration and remembrance of Chinese culture, values and traditions.

“It is also a platform to promote peace, goodwill, friendship and tourism among participants,” said Ooi.

The finalists will participate in various activities related to Chinese culture, such as visiting Chinese landmarks, immersing themselves in local cultural experiences and touring the sponsors’ establishments.
