PETALING JAYA: Amanah's three-term Hulu Kelang assemblyman Saari Sungib will not be defending his seat in the upcoming Selangor state polls.
His daughter, Anfaal Saari, confirmed that she is in the list of potential candidates to replace her father for the seat.
"My name is in the list of candidates to contest for Hulu Kelang (in the upcoming state elections). But it is up to the Amanah party leadership to decide who the candidate should be," she said in a phone interview.
An online portal reported Saari as saying that he did not intend to defend the Hulu Kelang seat due to poor health.
Anfaal said her father, who is Gombak Amanah division head and Selangor Amanah deputy chairman, was suffering from poor health.
Anfaal is the Amanah women's wing deputy chief and Gombak Amanah women's wing head.
The 44-year-old is also an Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) councillor.
She said she has been focussing on party and social activism work since Amanah was established in August 2015.
