Roads, drains in Rawang to be upgraded with Marris funds

A STRETCH of Jalan Kuala Garing in Rawang, Selangor, is among roads under the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) to be resurfaced using the Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris) allocation.

The municipality will also use the funds for drainage works in Taman Rawang Perdana and Jalan Rawang Mutiara 3.

All these works will cost about RM5mil.

MPS engineer Ahmad Fathin Zainal said the resurfacing of the 3km Jalan Kuala Garing stretch started on May 10 and was 50% done. It is expected to be completed by July 19.

The road resurfacing from SMK Seri Garing to Taman Garing Utama is estimated to cost RM950,000.

Drainage works in Jalan RP3 in Taman Rawang Perdana, he said, was estimated to cost RM277,000 and was almost 90% completed while the Jalan Mutiara 3 drainage works that started on April 12 were expected to be completed by July 5.

Ahmad Fathin said other road resurfacing works involved Jalan 2, Jalan 2A, Jalan 2B, Lorong 2C, Lorong 2/1, Lorong 2/2 and Lorong Tengah at Taman PKNS Batu 17 Rawang; Jalan RP 13, Jalan RP13/1, RP13/2, RP13/3, RP13/4, RM13/5 and RM13/6 in Taman Rawang Perdana; and Jalan Belmas Johan Utama, Jalan BJ 2, Jalan BJ 3, Jalan BJ 4, Jalan BJ 5 and Jalan BJ 6 in Belmas Johan.

Rawang assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat, during a visit to Jalan Garing Utama, said all the road and drainage works are scheduled to be completed by September this year.

He added that the Gombak Land Office would also use the Marris funds to upgrade several other roads and drains.

They are Jalan Teratai and drains in Jalan Cempaka in Kampung Kenanga; Jalan Tanjung 1, 2 and 3 in Kampung Tanjung; Jalan Sungai Bakau Tambahan 2 and Jalan SJ 3 in Kampung Sungai Bakau; Lorong 7 and Lorong 10 and drains at Lorong 1, 5 and 6 in Kampung Sungai Terentang; Jalan OC8/1, Jalan OC8/2, Jalan OC8/3, Lorong Sampah 3 and Lorong Sampah 4 with drains at Jalan OC8/6 and Lorong Kilang Papan 2 and finally, Jalan BT18/3 and Jalan BT18/2 and drains at Jalan LKS 8 in Kampung Datuk Lee Kim Sai.

Chua said this was only the first phase of road and drainage upgrading throughout Rawang.

He added that many flooding issues had been solved while traffic congestion issues had to be solved in stages.
