Sinking roads, potholes in Taman Mas caused by collapsed sewer pipe

The report in the StarMetro on June12.

A collapsed sewer pipe is the primary cause for sinkholes and road damage along Jalan Taman Mas in Sepang, says Indah Water Konsortium (IWK).

IWK said in a media statement that it had carried out temporary mitigation efforts by backfilling the sinkholes along the road to prevent road accidents.

“The sewer pipe collapsed at multiple spots within a 300m stretch.

“IWK had assessed the damage and estimated that the cost of repairing the sewer pipe and road will be quite significant.

“IWK is committed to follow through the long-term plans to repair the pipe at the affected road, with an estimated target completion within one year from commencement,” the statement read.

StarMetro had reported on June 12 that Taman Mas residents and business owners complained about a section of Jalan Taman Mas that had been sinking for over a year, where several accidents had occurred.
