Fans of local eatery Village Park Nasi Lemak can now buy its sambal from a supermarket chain.
Thanks to a partnership with Grab Signature Brands, Jaya Grocer has the eatery’s renowned Sambal Nasi Lemak on its shelves as part of its Private Labels.
The store’s chief executive officer Adelene Foo launched the popular condiment along with Village Park Nasi Lemak co-founders, husband-and-wife team Datuk Seri Mohd Shamil Ngoh Abdullah and Datin Seri Aishah Chong, at Starling Mall in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Foo said the collaboration was part of the grocery store’s ongoing efforts to improve customers’ shopping experience by providing exclusive items and specialised goods not found anywhere else.
“We planned for over a year to make this happen and we are excited to finally be able to offer this signature sambal to our customers.
“This makes it the first time their sambal will be available at the supermarket.”
She said the idea behind the company’s Private Labels was to bring to its shelves well-known brands that Malaysians love.
“This not only expands our exclusive product offerings, but also helps to make it more accessible and convenient for Malaysians to enjoy,” she added.
Foo said products under Jaya Grocer Private Labels were selected to suit the taste and quality customers expect by using Grab Signature Brands, which has a collection of the most well-liked restaurants and store partners on its delivery platform.
She said it made sense to introduce Jaya Grocer Private Labels with the ready-to-eat sambal from Village Park Nasi Lemak, as it was one of the best-selling nasi lemak on GrabFood.
Mohd Shamil said the restaurant’s regulars love the traditional flavours of Village Park Nasi Lemak’s sambal, which complemented other rice or noodle dish too.
“Each 225ml jar retails for RM17.90 and is available exclusively at all Jaya Grocer outlets, both in-store and online through GrabMart,” he said.
