Since starting on its tree-planting activity in 2022, STM Lottery Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM), has planted 120 trees.

The company’s ongoing partnership with FRIM for a second annual tree-planting campaign underscores its commitment to the government’s “100 Million Trees Campaign” for environmental conservation.

This year, led by STM Lottery communications and sustainability deputy general manager Giam Say Khoon, a group of volunteers from the company made a trip to FRIM field research station in Selandar, Melaka, to continue sustainability efforts.

Before the tree-planting exercise, the volunteers were briefed by FRIM’s forest plantation programme head Dr Rosdi Koter, who provided them with guidance on the proper techniques for planting saplings.

This tree-planting initiative held great significance for the volunteers as they gained a deeper understanding of the importance of environmental conservation and contributed to the preservation of Malaysia’s rich ecosystem.

“We are extremely pleased with this collaboration, as it perfectly aligns with our company’s dedication to reducing carbon emissions and fulfilling the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals No.13 and 15, which are to combat climate change and restore the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems.

“Through this tree-planting activity, we are taking meaningful steps towards a greener and more sustainable future,” said Giam.
