Leisure spot to eat, play and learn

There is an indoor inflatable playground for kids at KSL Esplanade Mall in Klang.

RESIDENTS in Klang, Shah Alam, Jenjarom and the surrounding areas have a new venue to visit for family fun following the opening of a new shopping mall.

The KSL Esplanade Mall in Jalan Langat, Klang in Selangor, was officially opened to the public on May 31.

Built by KSL City Management Sdn Bhd with the tagline “More Than Just A Mall”, it has 650,000sq ft space distributed across four floors. It promises to be more than just a shopping destination, being also a leisurely place for family and friends to dine, learn and play.

According to KSL Esplanade Mall project director Patrick Khoo, the occupancy rate has reached 75% with a variety of tenants that included a supermarket, cinema, swimming school, a rollerskate centre, play area, extreme park, and food and beverage outlets.

He said they were pushing for tenants from the food and beverage, and entertainment sectors.

“The mall is much larger than a regular neighbourhood mall, and we are trying to offer something different.

“For instance, we have Central Park, which is a 16ha outdoor space for recreational activities.

“It was partly opened some months before the mall’s opening, and there has been a crowd coming over to exercise and use the park facilities.

“At night, the area is lit up with decorative LED lighting,” he said.

There will also be musical fountain show at 8pm and 9pm daily, he added.

The shopping centre is accessible via highways such as Shah Alam Expressway, South Klang Valley Expressway and New Klang Valley Expressway.

The mall is located within a five-minute drive from the Johan Setia station that is under the LRT3 project, which is due to be completed next year.

“Once the LRT3 opens, visitors can take any rail system to connect to the Johan Setia station and hop on a free shuttle service provided by the mall,” said Khoo.

“Until Aug 31, parking is free.”

He said the management was also working with Tourism Malaysia to come up with tourism products that would promote the mall.

“With the KSL Esplanade Hotel next door, it will help drive tourist traffic as well.

“We are holding events every weekend, with at least one big event each month.

“So far, the big events confirmed include a national lion dance competition, wushu competition and a car exhibition.

“We are also looking into loyalty programmes to reward frequent shoppers,” Khoo added.
