SOCIETY for Homeless Animals Perak is appealing for donations to help maintain its shelter in Jalan Gopeng, Ipoh.

The organisation’s president Carman Yau said its funds in hand would last only until August.

“We are hosting a fundraising dinner to replenish our coffers and enable us to continue managing rescued dogs at the shelter,” she said, adding that the organisation hoped to raise about RM50,000.

“Our monthly expenses come to about RM6,000, with some RM4,000 spent on food and the rest going towards medical expenses and upkeep of the shelter,” said Yau.

She said the organisation also needed money to repair broken gates and instal a water filter for the underground water source at its premises.

She also said that the shelter planned to hire a worker, adding that they currently have two volunteers taking care of the place and its 120 dogs.

Society vice-president May Leong said the dinner would be held at Chow Yang Vegetarian Restaurant in Bercham, Ipoh, on Aug 26 at 7pm.
