THE newly revamped Caring Membership Mobile App launched by Caring Pharmacy Group has unified the membership programmes of Caring Pharmacy, Georgetown Pharmacy and Wellings Pharmacy.
This simplifies the membership process, enabling customers of all three pharmacies to access exclusive benefits and rewards using a single app.
Caring Pharmacy marketing director Loo Jooi Seng said, “Whether you visit Caring, Georgetown or Wellings, you can expect the same exceptional pharmacy services, promotions and membership benefits.”
With this alliance of three pharmacies, the group now operates over 230 stores nationwide.
In conjunction with the launch of the app, which fell on George Town World Heritage City Day, the group introduced its limited-edition Penang Heritage e-Cash vouchers.
A five-day Caring Carnival at Queensbay Mall’s ground floor centre atrium was held.
The event was opened by caretaker Penang tourism and creative economy committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin with Loo and Georgetown-Wellings Pharmacy director Tan Zhen Yao.
Loo said the exclusive e-vouchers were specially designed for Caring members, allowing them to redeem accumulated points for instant rebates at any of the group’s pharmacies nationwide.
“The vouchers feature scenes from well-known Penang tourist sites such as Penang Hill Railway, Kapitan Keling Mosque and the Armenian Street heritage enclave by local artist Lee Eng Beng.
“This initiative not only pays tribute to Penang’s rich heritage but also rewards loyal customers for their unwavering support,” he said.
Attendees had the opportunity to experience comprehensive and personalised pharmacy services provided by the group’s certified pharmacists.
These services include various health checks, medication use review, diabetes counselling and weight management programmes.
In his opening speech, Yeoh said medical tourism in Penang experienced an extraordinary resurgence.
“This surge is a testament to the exceptional quality of our healthcare services and the growing appeal of Penang.
“In 2022, there were only 24,638 foreign patients from January to April. This was before the borders were reopened on April 1 that year.
“Medical tourism has now bounced back.
“For the first four months of this year, Penang received 110,421 foreign patients.
“While this figure is still below the pre-pandemic level, of 130,122 patients from January to April 2019, we continue to see a strong recovery in patient arrivals,” he said.
During the carnival, a RM40,000 subsidy and 90 first-aid kits were presented to 32 schools in Penang, Kedah and Perlis.
This was part of the group’s “One Shop One School” corporate social responsibility programme which aimed to create health awareness and reduce the expenditure burden of public schools.
Also present at the carnival to meet fans were Era FM DJ Ahmad Nabil Ahmad and Astro TV host Siow Hui Mei.
