IN THE spirit of Malaysia Madani, Sarawak government is giving development funds to the Opposition-led Bawang Assan constituency.
SUPP president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg had agreed to provide minor rural project (MRP) funds to the constituency.
Parti Sarawak Bersatu president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh is the Bawang Assan assemblyman.
Dr Sim, however, did not reveal the amount of the aid.
“We are still in discussions with Sibu Municipal Council and Senator Robert Lau (Bawang Assan SUPP chairperson) to determine which projects will be implemented first.
“Since no projects have been carried out in the past 10 years, everyone now wants to be prioritised,” said Dr Sim at a Bawang Assan SUPP Gawai “Ngiling Bidai” ceremony.
He urged party members to work together to regain the seat for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
He emphasised that winning the seat was crucial to secure more funding for the development of the constituency.
“The Premier is generous by providing a small allocation.
“We must take action to ensure victory,” said Dr Sim, who is also state Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Minister.
