HALAL industry stakeholders now have the opportunity to come together on a local digital platform.
Halal International Selangor (HIS) Toyyiba Sdn Bhd launched its Authorised HIS Operator (AHO) Programme in Shah Alam, Selangor.
Selangor Islamic affairs, consumer affairs and halal industry caretaker committee chairman Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said the AHO programme was aimed at achieving the goals of the First Selangor Development Plan (RS-1).
“The AHO programme helps local facilities to enhance the halal industry ecosystem,” he said at a press conference.
He said the programme aimed to encourage more companies to apply for the Malaysia Halal Certification Scheme (SPHM) and enjoy the privileges offered by AHO.
“The programme is expected to enhance competitiveness and the entrepreneurial quality,” he added.
HIS Toyyiba Sdn Bhd general manager Muhammad Syaril Showkat Ali said AHO members would be guided through advisory services by relevant government agencies and stakeholders.
“They will also benefit from business matching opportunities, e-advertising of products, participation in local and international halal exhibitions as well as updates on the latest global halal developments,” he said.
He added that the aim was to encourage more local halal industry stakeholders to penetrate the global market and establish Selangor as a global halal economic centre.
The programme is targeting 50 companies to participate in the AHO programme this year.
“As an initial step, HIS is offering free membership to the first 100 companies to register before Sept 30,” said Muhammad Syaril.
Malaysian Investment Development Authority Selangor acting director Siti Runiza Mohd Zaini and Selangor Customs deputy director Syarifah Rozita Syed Fathi were present for a forum before the launch.
