SUBANG Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will undertake an RM51.5mil traffic dispersal project in USJ1, Taman Subang Permai, that will benefit some 10,000 local residents.

“This will be an elevated, dedicated road for those coming from the Persiaran Subang Permai intersection to bypass the traffic lights at the Persiaran Kewajipan intersection to head to the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas) and Federal Highway,” said Subang Jaya deputy mayor Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali.

“It is the biggest project in terms of funding from MBSJ and is expected to be completed in two-and-a-half years.

The state government has awarded the tender and the groundbreaking ceremony is expected to happen soon, he said.

“We hope motorists will bear with the temporary inconvenience and congestion that is expected to occur during the construction stage, as the project will allow for smoother traffic flow once completed.”

Mohd Zulkurnain said this during the groundbreaking ceremony of a community space called Kompleks Komuniti Penyayang Taman Saujana Puchong on Jalan SP 8/3, Taman Saujana Puchong in Puchong.

The complex that costs RM425,209 sits on a 800sq m site. Construction started in late June and is expected to be completed in late October this year.

The covered structure features an open hall design for natural ventilation. It includes facilities such as a multi-purpose court, open space for community activities, toilets including those for the disabled and parking space.

It can be used for recreation or host events such as banquets and weddings.

“This project of over RM400,000 is the biggest under the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang programme for the Seri Serdang constituency,” said incumbent Seri Serdang assemblyman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

“Under the programme, each state constituency is allocated RM1mil by Selangor government this year for upgrading and repair projects. The balance of the funds for Seri Serdang will be used for smaller projects.”

She said Kompleks Komuniti Penyayang Taman Saujana Puchong was expected to benefit more than 10,000 residents.

In his speech, Mohd Zulkurnain said MBSJ had lined up 36 major projects under its 2023 budget, with a total expenditure of RM73.4mil.

“One of the projects is the reconstruction of Medan Selera Taman Tasik Sri Serdang, which costs about RM1.5mil. The tender has been awarded and construction is expected to start in two months,” he said.

“We want to upgrade this food court, which is located close to Universiti Putra Malaysia in Serdang, to modernise the facilities and uplift its image.

“The number of stalls will be increased from six to 10, and it will be redesigned to make it an attractive space for locals and foreign visitors,” he added.

Other projects lined up this year include building a connecting road and other related works between Persiaran Taman Perindustrian Kinrara and Jalan BK5, Puchong, as well as upgrading the drainage system to address the flooding problem in Jalan Rotan, Lorong Bertam and the area around Kampung Baru Batu 14 in Puchong, which costs RM1.78mil.
