RESIDENTS of Taman Indah Perdana, Kepong, want their neighbourhood field to be upgraded for recreational use.
Currently, the field is in poor condition with uneven surfaces and sunken holes.
It lacks jogging tracks and proper lighting, making it difficult for residents to maximise the use of the space.
Additionally, the shortage of parking has resulted in residents parking on the field itself.
Community activist Yee Poh Ping said they had submitted a proposal to Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) to upgrade the field so residents of all ages may enjoy the space.
The proposal contains appeals for jogging tracks and more streetlights.
“Residents also requested for more parking around the field and that the field be resurfaced,” Yee said.
Taman Indah Perdana residents association chairman Tan Tee Chuan said nothing had been done to the field since it was developed in 1992.
He added that the residents association was told that MPS lacked the budget to upgrade the field.
“Since MPS could not help us, we had to fund the amenities ourselves.
“We installed three streetlights and spent RM5,000 to repair the outdoor badminton court.
“However, more needs to be done and we hope the authorities will step in,” he said.
Taman Indah Perdana residents association board member John Lee said MPS should provide additional parking spaces.
“There are 301 houses here and not enough parking so some residents resort to parking all over the field, which upsets the others.
“MPS must resolve the parking problem here soon,” he said.
