THREE-term incumbent Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah, 44, will be sitting out the upcoming state elections.
According to a post on his Facebook page, Ean Yong said he had met with DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke to inform the latter of his decision not to contest in the state polls to give way to young blood.
Ean Yong said he hoped the party leaders would give local candidates the chance to contest the Seri Kembangan and Sungai Pelek seats.
He added that he would support the party and continue with the fight to retain Selangor.
The Seri Kembangan state seat, under the Puchong parliamentary constituency, in Selangor has been a DAP stronghold since 2008.
In the 2018 general election, Ean Yong won with a total of 34,659 votes against Chan Toong Woh of Barisan-MCA (3,514).
The Star had earlier reported that a party source had said changes have been made to the incumbent line up with some candidates either being transferred or replaced.
According to the source, both Ean Yong and Banting rep Lau Weng San may be sent to other constituencies or be dropped.
When contacted for comments, Ean Yong said: "Please work with the new candidate. Will announce soon.”
