A private healthcare provider organised a Malaysia Healthcare Expo (MHX) in Surabaya, Indonesia, to promote the country as a world-class destination for healthcare to medical tourists

The first of its kind expo by a single healthcare group was aimed at highlighting world-class medical expertise, state-of-the-art technology and facilities and patient-centred care across IHH Healthcare Malaysia’s network of brands, namely Gleneagles, Pantai and Prince Court Medical Centre.

MHX is a flagship programme by Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC).

“This milestone underscores IHH Healthcare Malaysia’s strength within the healthcare industry and its commitment to advancing medical tourism in Malaysia.

“The exhibition allows us to showcase the spectrum of integrated clinical advancements across our hospitals in making healthcare better, faster and easier for our patients,” said IHH Healthcare Malaysia chief commercial officer Sipika Singh.

She added that visitors had the opportunity to interact directly with hospital representatives, acquire relevant information and make informed decisions concerning their healthcare needs.

The event featured participation from Gleneagles Hospital Penang, Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Gleneagles Hospital Medini Johor, Gleneagles Hospital Kota Kinabalu, Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Pantai Hospital Ayer Keroh and Prince Court Medical Centre.

Separately, IHH Healthcare Malaysia also launched its one-stop customer service hotline as well as a website that supports services in Bahasa Indonesia and allows Indonesian patients and caregivers to call and receive assistance on appointment booking, medical enquiries and other related topics.

In his opening remarks, Gleneagles Hospital Medini chief executive officer Dr Kamal Amzan said: “Malaysia has long been the preferred healthcare travel destination for Indonesian patients seeking high-quality, easily accessible and affordable medical treatment that complements their local healthcare options.

“MHX Surabaya aims to build on this trust by curating an exceptional expo tailored to discerning audiences in Surabaya who are seeking cutting-edge healthcare treatment options abroad.”

IHH Healthcare Malaysia won several awards at the recent GlobalHealth Asia-Pacific Awards, including Hospital Group of the Year in the Asia-Pacific region.

Among the big wins were awards for Medical Tourism Hospital of the Year in Asia-Pacific for Gleneagles Hospital Penang, Hospital of the Year in Malaysia for Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Cancer Centre of the Year in Asia-Pacific award for Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Orthopaedic Service Provider of the Year in Asia-Pacific for Prince Court Medical Centre.

This is the second time this expo was organised by MHTC in Surabaya at Tunjungan Plaza.
