TO promote the use of reusable bags, the Lions Club of Perak Silver State distributed some 100 bags to SMK Raja Perempuan in Ipoh.

Club president Richard Ng said they hoped the move would reduce the use of plastic bags that contributed towards pollution.

He said the club had been distributing the reusable bags in conjunction with the International Plastic Bag Free Day, which fell on July 3.

The bags were presented during the school’s cooperative society programme launched by Ipoh city councillor Nurol Huda Ahmad Nator.

Ng said the school had won many accolades and was named the champion in an ewaste collection competition, sustainable green earth innovative project and the International Green Eco School Awards.

“Our club is committed to helping the school in its green efforts,” he added.
