Astor Bar’s recent “Art of Drinking” launch featured a series of creative cocktails.
It inspired the journey of creating an immersive adventure with the story of New York’s five distinct neighbourhoods – Lower Manhattan, Midtown, Upper Manhattan, East Side and West Side.
Each part of the city was represented by the following cocktails: A Ritual Fizz, Royal Palladium Fizz, Duke of Jazz, Roselle’s Julep, and Clarke Colada respectively.
A Ritual Fizz is a combination of coffee-infused limoncello, cream, lemon, orange blossom water, sugar and soda while the Royal Palladium Fizz is a mix of Prosecco, vodka, cherry brandy, pineapple, Sakura, honey and lime.
The more spirit-forward Duke of Jazz incorporates white rum, tequila, pineapple, honey water, lemon and Oleo Saccharum (infused syrup) while the Roselle’s Julep, a whiskey lover’s choice, is a concoction of rye whiskey, strawberry and honey shrub, mint and Angostura bitters.
Globally, each St Regis hotel has its own take on the classic cocktail Bloody Mary.
It started back in 1934 when famed Fernand Petiot perfected the Bloody Mary recipe at St Regis New York’s King Cole Bar.
For more than 80 years, the drink has remained the signature cocktail of St Regis.
At St Regis Kuala Lumpur, the Asam Boi Mary takes inspiration from the local hawker drink asam boi.
It combines asam boi-infused vodka, tomato, calamansi, paprika, Sarawak black pepper, cili padi and tabasco.
Part of St Regis’ signature series is The Michelle, a tribute to Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh in celebration of her Oscar win.
Another eponymous cocktail in the series is The Astrid, that can be attributed to the Crazy Rich Asians character portrayed by actress Gemma Chan.

Suntory Whiskey Kakubin needs no introduction. It’s known for its simplicity with citrusy notes and is often used in making highballs.
The Japanese whiskey encapsulates a sweet seductive aroma and dry finish, further accentuated with key notes of Yamazaki and Hakushu Bourbon casks.
After the construction of Japan’s first malt whiskey distillery, Yamazaki in 1923, the House of Suntory released its flagship-blended whiskey, nicknamed “Kakubin” in 1937.
Suntory then opened Western-style bars all over Japan called “Tory Bars” in the 1950s, where the Kaku Highball became the drink of choice, cementing its spot as one of the pioneers of Japanese whiskey.
During the Art of Japanese Highball event at S35 Skybar and Restaurant, guests were invited to taste the original Suntory Whiskey highball as well as two variations, one with yuzu syrup and the other has pandan syrup.
Throughout this month, 20 outlets will be having varied promotions such as gashapon games, whiskey bottles and highball promotions.
