WITH the elections for six states just days away, candidates are wasting no time covering as much ground as possible in their dash to the finish line.
Many incumbent assemblymen in Penang and Kedah are making the most of their time by distributing manifesto pledges to people at markets, coffeeshops and public places besides going on house-to-house visits.
They are accompanied by party supporters waving party flags and holding placards featuring the candidates.
In between walkabouts, the contenders and their entourage often stop for meal breaks in the areas visited.
At night, most candidates can be found addressing crowds at ceramah in their respective constituencies.
Penang will see contests for 40 state seats among 95 candidates including five Independents.
Of the seats, 29 are straight fights, seven are three-cornered and four are four-cornered contests.
Kedah has 36 seats up for grabs, with 83 candidates including 10 Independents.
There are 28 straight fights, six three-way contests as well as one four-cornered and one five-way battle.
Polling day is set for Aug 12.
