FIRST-year university students from Sibu will receive a one-off financial assistance of RM1,000, courtesy of Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng.

“Education is my priority and I will always try to assist students through various incentives to ensure they can continue with their studies.

“That’s why apart from giving incentives to students with excellent SPM, STPM and UEC results, I am also giving this financial aid to those who further their studies in university,” said Chieng when presenting the aid to four students pursuing further studies.

He explained that the financial aid was given on a first-come, first-served basis, and would be distributed in batches.

It is open to first-year students admitted to public and private higher education institutions who did their SPM, STPM or UEC in 2022.

The students and their parents must be from Bukit Assek.

“For applicants under 18, their IC address must be within the Bukit Assek state constituency.

“The applicant must be from a B40 family with a total household income of less than RM3,170.”

To apply, visit Chieng’s Bukit Assek service centre or call 084-313 566.
