Cats and mew-sic steal the show at MBSA’s car-free day

Ten cats were put up for adoption at MBSA’s Shah Alam Car-Free Day programme in July. The next edition will take place this Sunday, starting 7am.

A CAT adoption programme was among activities organised by Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) at the July edition of its Shah Alam Car-Free Day event.

A total of 10 cats, which had been vaccinated and had their health inspected, were put up for adoption.

“This programme was held to raise awareness of responsible animal ownership and to encourage local communities to care for pets properly to create a clean and safe environment,” MBSA Corporate and Public Relations Division head Mohd Azhar Mohd Sharif said in a statement.

“A Most Beautiful Cat Competition was also held during the event, whereby RM450 in cash prizes and hampers were awarded to the top three winners and four consolation winners.”

The crowd was also entertained with a musical session that had performers encouraging children to use unconventional materials such as pails and sticks to strike a beat.

The monthly car-free event featured a host of activities for visitors including fun run, aerobics, silat clinic, archery and petting zoo.
