Local retail chain marks milestone by offering items up to 60% off

MYDIN, the nation’s largest halal wholesale and retail chain, turns 66 and is celebrating this milestone by offering customers discounts of up to 60%.

The campaign is ongoing nationwide until Oct 31, with discounts worth RM6.6mil, said Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd managing director Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin during a press conference at its headquarters in Subang Jaya, Selangor.

The “Semarak Gemilang Malaysia Madani and OHMYDIN! Meriah Bersama” campaign launch is taking place today (Aug 17) at Mydin Seremban 2, Negri Sembilan.

From Aug 18 to 20, some of the food items will be marked down by up to 60%.

“Items such as Gardenia bread will be sold at RM1.66 while chicken wings and onions will only cost 66sen.

“There will be a cap on how many of these items customers can buy as we want these offers to reach as many individual consumers as possible,” said Ameer Ali.

Besides food, household items, clothes and stationery will also be marked down by up to 60%.

Ameer Ali hoped the public would purchase products from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) during the campaign as they were of good quality.

“I support SMEs and I always encourage people to buy their products,” he said.

“Some of their items are also among our anniversary sale.”

The anniversary campaign also collaborated with 50 strategic partners and distributors such as MBSB Bank, Setel, MyDebit, Boost, Oppo, P&G, Unilever and Wipro.

Through the Mydin Meriah loyalty programme, Mydin is offering 660 points for new Meriah card registrations, along with exclusive gifts.

Mydin has also introduced TikTok Shop on the official MYDIN Malaysia’s TikTok with first-time purchasers entitled to claim RM15 and other special voucher codes.

Customers will also get RM6 off for delivery nationwide with purchases from the TikTok Shop.

In the “Belanja & Fuel Good” campaign, a collaboration with Setel, customers who spend a minimum of RM120 using the app will receive Setel vouchers worth RM6.60.

To encourage the use of digital payment modes, customers using MyDebit will have the opportunity to win Mydin vouchers worth up to RM280,000 for every purchase of RM66 and above in a single receipt.

Top shoppers using ewallet payment modes such as Boost, MBSB Bank ewallet, MCash, Wavpay and Zapp stand a chance to win cashback and prizes worth a total of RM366,000.

“Our anniversary campaign allows consumers to shop for their daily necessities at affordable prices while having the opportunity to receive special rewards throughout the campaign.

“This is a manifestation of our appreciation to the community for their continuous support over the past 66 years.

“We hope the public will take the opportunity to avail themselves of these special offers.” said Ameer Ali.
