ANOTHER wave of flags has arrived, this time not just in the six states that went to the polls, but sweeping across the country from Perlis to Sarawak.

As the nation gears up to celebrate National Day, the number of Jalur Gemilang flying proudly is almost at its peak with Aug 31 drawing closer.

From bustling urban centres to tranquil villages, spirited Malaysians are raising the flag collectively, whether on the facade of a skyscraper, a jumbo digital screen or the roof of one’s home.

Flags on moving vehicles flutter proudly too, creating a parade of sorts.

In Putrajaya, where this year’s celebrations will be held, rehearsals for the National Day Parade are also well under way.

The thousands of flying flags around the country symbolise not just the nation’s ideals and values, but the people’s commitment to unity, loyalty and love for Malaysia.

The flag’s resurgence post-elections serves as a timely reminder that, irrespective of political affiliations and electoral outcomes, the people’s allegiance to the country is what keeps it all together.
