Open toll payment system pilot test starts on Besraya and NPE

THE IJM Toll Division is conducting a pilot test for the Open Payment Toll Collection System (SPT) on two highways under its operation, namely the Sungai Besi Expressway (Besraya) and the New Pantai Expressway (NPE).

Its chief operating officer Chua Lay Hoon said the initiative, which started on Saturday (Aug 26), is in line with the government's effort to provide alternative payment methods for highway users.

“The SPT system allows highway users to pay tolls using debit and credit cards, or prepaid cards, in addition to existing methods such as Touch ‘n Go, SmartTag and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).

“This simultaneously offers a new alternative for users in the toll payment process.”

During this trial period, lanes equipped with the SPT system can be identified through distinctive signs at the toll booths to assist motorists.

Motorists are advised to ensure their credit card balance is sufficient for toll payment.

In case of transaction failure, motorists can choose an alternative bank card or use the Touch ‘n Go card.

IJM Toll Division expects the implementation of the SPT system will be more convenient for highway users and streamline toll collection operations.
