FIVE companies – Brutti Besi, Leonarcta, South-East Asia Treasure, Grace Creation Enterprise and Le Doux Coffee – beat over 60 others to become winners of an entrepreneurship development programme for Sabah.

Under the programme called ‘Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia’, they will each receive RM10,000 startup funds from Shell.

On top of that, they will get a year of business coaching to develop their plans and access to the facilities made available by Shell.

Furthermore, the winners will be rewarded with the opportunity to connect with the global LiveWIRE ecosystem and share their knowledge with entrepreneurs around the world, while standing a chance to compete in the annual Shell Global Top Ten Innovators Awards.

This is Shell’s ninth year hosting the entrepreneurship development initiative for Sabahan entrepreneurs.

The entrepreneurs went through a comprehensive boot camp before 10 selected finalists moved on to the final pitching competition.

Here, the entrepreneurs were assessed based on their pitches, which demonstrated their drive to grow their business based on their plans.

Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd’s Reliability and Engineering manager Danny Murshidi said, “It’s inspiring to see our local entrepreneurs striving to build their businesses while empowering their communities by creating employment opportunities through their ventures.

“I encourage all budding entrepreneurs to grab this opportunity to be a part of our Shell LiveWIRE programme.”

Shell LiveWIRE is the flagship enterprise development programme of Shell which started in Sabah in 2015 and in Sarawak in 2016.

It aims to inspire young entrepreneurs to produce real business solutions. — By DURIE RAINER FONG
