DEVELOPER Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd (MCHB) kicked off National Day fervour by distributing 1,000 Malaysian flags around Bandar Sri Sendayan near Seremban, Negri Sembilan.

Some 50 community groups including village heads, residents’ associations, schools, places of worship and local authorities received mini Jalur Gemilang at d’Tempat Country Club.

MCHB chairman Datuk Mohamad Haslah Mohamad Amin said, “We hope to see more national flags flying high at houses and elsewhere in the area.”

During a simple ceremony, attendees stood to attention as the flag was raised while the national anthem played.

To encourage attendees to get into the spirit of Merdeka, the Jalur Gemilang and Malaysia Madani songs were also played followed by the reading of the Rukunegara.

Mohamad Haslah expressed hope that they could hold the patriotic event annually, describing it as an opportunity to rally the people and promote harmony.

“It is our duty to raise awareness of the significance of Merdeka,” he said.

Also at the event were MCHB founder and group executive deputy chairman Datuk Seri Lee Tian Hock and MCHB group managing director Ho Kong Soon. — By C.S. NATHAN
