Proud to wave the Jalur Gemilang

The mood was upbeat at a dance academy in Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling here, with a group of young ballet dancers holding and waving the Jalur Gemilang enthusiastically during the National Day celebration.

ALLE Academie De Danze teacher Joey Tan said the tradition, started by the academy principal, and one that has been observed by the academy for the past 40 years, involves getting the students to pose for a photograph together with the Jalur Gemilang.

"This year, we have gathered 12 students aged between eight and 11 for a photo shoot together with the Jalur Gemilang."This is one way for us to encourage and nurture the children's love for the country," she said. - LIM BENG TATT/The Star
