Matrix International School Class of 2022-23 has made the school proud with its best-ever IGCSE results since its establishment in 2014 in Bandar Seri Sendayan.

The students at the school, located near Seremban in Negri Sembilan, scored a grade point average of 1.36 this time around, compared to 1.81 in 2022.

The school had four students scoring full As, and the percentile of passes also showed great improvement.

Matrix Global Schools (MGS) campus principal Loh Ghee Juan said his team was extremely proud of the outstanding achievements of its Year 11 students.

“These outstanding results emphasise the synergy between our students’ determination and the support of their families and teachers.

“As they step into the next phase of their educational journey, we are confident that they will continue to achieve greatness,” he said, adding that although the students achieved success through their own efforts, the contribution of the teachers also played an important part.

“We are confident that MGS not only aids students in enhancing their academics but also in cultivating their overall quality and development.

“Behind every successful student, there is a network of support and guidance, and MGS recognises the invaluable contributions of parents and teachers,” he said.

He added that the commitment and sacrifices made by parents played an important role in shaping these exceptional young minds.

Loh said credit must also be extended to the teachers who taught the preceding classes for building up a strong foundation for the excellent IGCSE results.

Student Low Yi Ling, who scored 7A* and 2As, owed her success to making short notes and revising her work after school.

“That way, I managed to remember whatever I learned in class that particular day,” she said, adding that she also learned how to be self-disciplined and independent at MGS.

Javier Lim, who scored 4A* and 4As, was surprised with his results.

“I am very happy that I got straight As. Even my parents were surprised that I did well,” he said, adding that to do well, one has to study consistently and do plenty of revision.

Piravin Arumugam, who got 5A* and 3As, said he didn’t expect to do so well.

“My target was full As. I didn’t expect 5A*.

“I do not have any tips to give others, but to do well, one has to plan and focus on the tougher subjects,” he said, adding that time management was also crucial.

Quek Joann, who obtained 8A* and 1A, said it was important for students to pay attention in class.

She said discipline and time management were also important ingredients for excelling.

“I enjoyed subjects such as business and accounting, and my plan is to focus on the two subjects in the future,” she added.

MGS, which comprises the Matrix International Pre-School, Matrix International School, and Matrix Private School, opened its doors in September 2014 and has been modelled after the 138-year-old Ellesmere College, a prestigious British residential school.

The Matrix International School offers the IGCSE University of Cambridge “O” and “A” Levels programmes while the Matrix Private School follows the national KSSR and KSSM curriculum.
