ABOUT 100 participants in 31 vehicles went on a drive to spread the spirit of patriotism throughout Hulu Selangor.

Pakatan Harapan Hulu Selangor parliamentary coordinator Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan flagged off the convoy at Wisma Antara Gapi in Serendah at 8.30am.

Also present was Hulu Selangor Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Isa Abu Kasim.

Participants sang the state and national anthems and recited the Rukun Negara before embarking on their journey.

The convoy comprising four-wheel drive vehicles, cars and MPVs with Malaysian flags toured Ulu Yam Lama, Batang Kali, Kuala Kubu Baru, Hulu Bernam, Bukit Tagar, Bukit Beruntung, Bandar Sungai Buaya, Sungai Choh and Serendah before returning to Antara Gapi at about 6pm.

The members handed out flags at every stop.

Dr Sathia said he wanted the patriotic spirit to be felt in Hulu Selangor.

“Many would find it difficult to drive to Shah Alam and Putrajaya for National Day events because of cost and time constraints.

“We wanted to do our part to bring a little cheer to the people here.

“We also gave away provisions to two individuals in need in Hulu Bernam,” he said. — By STUART MICHAEL
